About
Studying Computer Science at Lancaster University has allowed me to further develop my problem solving and complex analytical skills. I have been able to learn and work with various programming languages such as Java, C and Python, using functional, procedural and object-oriented paradigms. By applying these programming skills, I have been able to design, develop and implement a number of projects such as a 2D Platformer Game for children, as part of a group project but also more recently a Deep Learning Inspired Facial Recognition Attendance Program. The latter formed the basis of my final year dissertation project, where I had the opportunity to study and evaluate a number of state of the art deep learning neural network architectures, applied to the problems of Object detection and Object recognition. I learned an invaluable amount about how Computational Neural Networks (and the humans that inspire them) actually learn and evolve. As part of my project, I produced a web application that can be used by educational institutes to automatically monitor student attendance. This was a challenging and stimulating project which has further increased my appetite to create other cutting edge data-driven applications.
